Veneers in Lakewood, Colorado

Porcelain Veneers Veneers are very thin, custom-made shells made of tooth-colored porcelain that are fabricated by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded to the teeth to alter the shape, size, and/or color of the existing teeth. You should know that veneers may be an irreversible process because it is necessary to remove a small amount of enamel to allow space for the porcelain shell. As with all dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and may someday need replacement. However, they are very durable and will last many years, giving you a beautiful, long-lasting smile. Some reasons for porcelain veneers:

  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile
  • Crooked teeth
  • Worn or chipped teeth
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or large
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces
  • Misshapen teeth

What does getting porcelain veneers involveGetting veneers usually requires two to three visits to complete, with little or no anesthesia required during the procedure. The teeth are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow for the thickness of the veneer. An impression of the teeth is taken and a shade (color) will then be chosen by you and Dr. Kasper. Temporaries may or may not be placed at this time. On the next visit the teeth will be cleansed with special solutions to achieve a long-lasting bond. Special bonding cement is then placed between the tooth and the veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and set the cement.
